START TIME IS 10:30 am
THE PLAN: We will start from the Mishe Mokwa trailhead (WHICH HAS TWO PARKING LOTS AND ROADSIDE PARKING, TOO).
After a quarter mile on the narrow Mishe Mokwa trail, we will take a left turn and cross over to the wide Sandstone Peak trail and go 1 & 1/2 miles uphill to Sandstone Peak (elevation gain 900 feet). There we will write naughty poems in the register book and EAT LUNCH while admiring the view. We will then continue 2 miles west to Tri-Peaks, play and explore multiple tunnels and caves, including the DARK CAVE. EXPECT THREE OR FOUR HOURS OF CAVE EXPLORATION. AND bring a headlamp!!
We then loop back to our skateboards via the Mishe Mokwa trail
DIFFICULTY: this is an all-day hike and adventure. It features lots of free-hand (no ropes) rock climbing. It is not for beginners. We will stop and rest a lot, depending on how tired we get.
Newbies are OK with me. But expect a long day of adventuring. However, If you want to leave early, there are signs at each trail junction pointing back to the start.
