I wanted to send a quick email explaining what was going on with the
youth and teen activities in order to clear up any possible
activity on 1/19 will be split into two programs, one geared
toward younger and one older kids. Both are fun, educational
programs featuring Charleston County Park and Recreation's
indoor, inflatable planetarium.
One program is entitled Moving Right Along/Sun and Earth and is
geared for elementary school aged kids and younger, along
with their families. In this program, we’ll examine movements
of the moon, earth, and others in our solar system, including
how it translates to day and night. We’ll also examine the
relationship between the sun and the earth that includes
seasonal changes on Earth.
The other program is entitled World in
Motion/Constellations and is geared for middle and
high school kids. In this program, we'll examine the
moon’s influence on Earth,
including phases, eclipses and tides. Major
constellations will be highlighted reference to
historical and current uses of constellations.
Originally we were offering one
session of each program, but due to high demand, we are now
offering 2 sessions of Moving Right Along/Sun and Earth.
The schedule is now:
1:30pm Moving Right Along/Sun and
Earth (elementary school and younger)
2:30pm World in Motion/Constellations (middle and high school
3:30pm Moving Right Along/Sun and Earth (elementary school and
Each program is 45 minutes in length and begins promptly.
Because it will take a bit of time to get everyone into the
planetarium and situation, please arrive 15 minutes early.
I am sorry for any confusion regarding the different sessions and
age brackets. Please visit our Meetup site (or Facebook or regular
website) for more information, or please feel free to contact me at
