The Feast
Drinks will be provided; please bring appetizers and desserts, such as: veggie trays, chips & dip, bread & cheese, fruit, any kind of dessert, etc. Eat dinner before you come.
ALCOHOL IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING.
The Entertainment
This is a highly participatory event. There will be singing, dancing and a game. In the spirit of Saturnalia fun, you are invited and encouraged to offer an entertainment to the God and the coveners. This could be a generic seasonal toast, or a song, poem, magic trick, joke, bad impersonation of Chewbacca/Elvis/Justin Bieber, a demonstration of your jump–rope abilities… It does not have to be comic. Creativity is welcome and appreciated. Because of time constraints, please limit your entertainment to less than 60 seconds. You do not have to sing all 300+ verses of “Old Time Religion”; 2 verses and a rousing chorus will do. Remember, this activity is optional on your part. Feel free also to simply sit back and enjoy.
Other Stuff
It was customary to wear a red hat for Saturnalia. If you want to wear something red on your hair, then please do! A Santa hat…bandana…feathers…flowers…it’s all good.
Guidelines for Enjoying Ritual
Long-time SBC attendees know this stuff by now, but here’s the short version.
Use common sense.
Be polite. Be friendly.
Don’t touch without asking the owner first.
Take care of your own trash and offer to help clean up.
That should cover it.
Oh – did we tell you about the dares? No? Well, you’ll find out when you get there. It will be fun, we promise.
