Kayaking Along the Charles

EVENT: End the summer on the right note with an early evening cruise down a leisurely part of the Charles River from beautiful Nahanton Park in Newton. We will enjoy 2 hours of kayaking just before sundown (7:16) then we can go someplace afterward to relax.

RSVP: Necessary by Friday, August 30. The trip leader, David, will need a ride from a nearby T stop. If you can arrive a little early and pick up David, please leave a comment below letting him know.

MEET: At 4:00, with kayaking from 4:30 to 6:30. We will gather at the Charles River Canoe & Kayak boathouse. The entrance to the park is: 455 Nahanton St. (Kendrick St.), Newton, MA.

COST: Single kayak: $15/hr. There are a limited number of kayaks so it would be a good idea to get there early in order to request a kayak.

I see there are 3 spots available but RSVPs closed. If it opens up again, I'd like to take one of the 3 spots. I live walking distance from the site so can usually come with last-minute notice 617-[masked]

We cannot reserve kayaks with Charles River unless it is a group purchase and that has to go on one credit card which I do not want either myself or anyone else to be responsible for. Charles River has told me there should be kayaks available at that time of the day but some of us may have to rent doubles.

David, I just called to see about reserving a kayaking and I was told that they do not have a group coming and it you are going to need more than 8 kayaks you would want to let them know. If you do make a reservation for the group please count me as being comped as I have a membership to get a kayak but you can include me in how many kayak's you need. Thanks!

I am going to be away for a couple of days now and will not be checking my email until Sunday. If you have any questions or a conversation please leave a remark for me to follow up on when I get back. There was a question about bringing your own kayak and I had checked with Charles River Canoe and Kayak and they let us use their launch area for our own kayaks if you have one.

I talked with the people over at Charles River Canoe and Kayak today and decided that we were better off starting our kayaking at 4:30 instead of 5:00.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
