RE: [movies-779] New Meetup: Day trip to York

For some reason I cannot get onto the Movie group. I have discovered a really good cult movie list which might provoke some good discussion on the message board. Could you post it for me please?
When is the next drink?
(1) "Matador" (Almodovar) -- Strange, weird, everything you ever wanted to know about Catholic Guilt [tm], Mediterranean Style; maybe not Almodovar's "greatest" film, but more than 20 years after I first saw it, still my favorite

(2) "Persona" (Bergman) -- The only film I've ever seen where after it was over, the entire audience sat in complete silence for a moment before anyone even moved

(4) "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie" (Bunuel) -- Bunuel was always a sly master of tongue-in-cheek observation, and in this one, he's at his slyest

(5) "Orphee" (Cocteau) -- I think that this is the best film about Being An Artist that I've ever seen (trois fois)

(6) "Casablanca" (Curtiz) -- I don't think that I need to explain this one

(7) "Singin' in the Rain" (Donen/Kelly) -- *The* classic movie musical (plus Cyd Charisse's legs)

(8) "Vertigo" (Hitchcock) -- Hitchcock matches his technical skills with a willingness to turn his own obsessions into *the* film about obsession

(9) "Duck Soup" (McCarey) -- Hail, hail, Freedonia, land of the free and the brave!

(10) "One, Two, Three" (Wilder) -- I realize that there are good arguments that this is not Wilder's "greatest" film (maybe not even in his top five), but I love it. Cagney is just incredible here; the supporting cast is wonderful; the dialogue is amazing; and even though it's clearly a "cold war fable," I don't find it dated. And let's not forget the most harrowing torture scene in movie history. . .

Subject: [movies-779] New Meetup: Day trip to York

Announcing a new Meetup for Leeds Movie Fans/Travel Meetup Group!

What: Day trip to York

When: April 4, [masked]:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: If you wish to come on a day trip to York on Saturday, them meet us at the station at 11am. Give or take 15min, we will def try to set of at around 11.30 ish. Bring money for your ticket and any other money for lunch and or drinks as I am sure we will go to the pub at some point.

Can I please ask... if you are a new member and put yourself as a maybe - I will need you to change to a yes or no no later than fri evening. If I know none of the regular members are going, I then do not want to be waiting at the train station for people who know they are not coming. If you leave yourself as a maybe, I will consider this as a no on Sat and if you know you are coming it will up to you to find us, rather than me try to find someone I have no idea is coming...sorry to lecture, but I am sure you can all understand where I am coming from on this.

As with a few weeks before (at pub when you met some of my fb friends) I may see if some of them wish to join us.

Back to Leeds and off to pub - join us at any point

Hopefully see you on Sat
