The idea of combining the Source and FFG into a single game
day only works twice a month.
One idea I had, that may alleviate at least FFG as long as
FFG keeps getting 4 tables, is a constant Slot-0 for the GM’s who are going to
be running that day. I’m currently
running a Slot-0 on Saturday for the GM’s (although Jacob hasn’t responded yet
as to whether he can be there) for this Sunday the 20th.
This does potentially two things.
I’m hoping this helps to motivate players to
step up to GM, as it also allows them to play the scenario first. I also find that playing the scenario first
really helps in my prep for running the scenario. Now my thought is, if we can get a Slot-0
running every off weekend for FFG, and the GM’s take turns stepping up to run
these Slot-0’s (I don’t have the time to do every single one, especially the
off weekend that falls on the Saturday I’m running at Village Games), then this
could really be helpful to new GM’s and give long-term GM’s some play time.
I’m hoping that Paizo will consider this part of
the game day and it would qualify for 5 tables, and thus free scenarios for the
GM’s not named Ryan and Andy. But this
also means that we would have to have 4 tables of players during the 11am to
5pm time slot, and would probably have to know this was full (with GM’s already
volunteered) prior to the weekend before the game day.

Subject: [msp-pathfinders] Elimination of Free Modules for GMs
Unfortunately I must be the bearer of bad news. Not catastrophic news mind you, but certainly the opposite of good news.
I have been informed by my superiors at Paizo that scenarios will no longer be given for free to GMs at events less than 5 tables. As you are well aware, neither The Source, Village, nor FFG currently seat five tables, which means no more free scenarios. Until further notified, be aware that GMs must buy their own mods, or contact me for a reduced cost gift module (I am a subscriber, so they cost me around $3.50 instead of $4.00). For reference, this does mean that I am paying roughly $21 a month in scenarios (Andy and I get scenarios free), and Jon might be paying $64 a month for just scenarios.
I am reviewing alternatives, which may possibly include a nominal (~ $0.50 to $1 fee at FFG) to help recoup scenario, printing, and website costs. I am also entertaining physical transfer of paper scenarios (I work up by FFG and The Source now) and other incentives. Another option is to ‘combine’ The Source and FFG into “one” game which would give us regularly 7 tables at least half the time. I am also seeing if we can offer up Paizo any good ideas regarding free older scenarios. No good idea will be ignored.
Yes I know in a time that I am struggling to get GMs this is not the kind of news we want, but we have to work with what we have. Trust me when I say I'm as unhappy as you are. However...when life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade – make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons, what I am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give us lemons. Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I’m going to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
