There are 12 of us still signed up (9 with backpacking and 3 with ABQ Hiking Meetup). I expect carpooling to go something like this:
Meet at Target at 9am. I assume that Sean will not be there as he lives in Santa Fe. My guest will not be there as she is working in Santa Fe all day.
So we have 10. Becky and Gregor will be driving up in their truck with her dog Trixie and do not have room for others.
I assume that John from the hiking group will drive his truck up with his guest and his dog, Gnarly.
So we now have six of us carpooling. Steve wants to drive his Subaru and I know Jeff and Jason both have good high clearance vehicles so assume that one of them will also drive. So we should have 2 cars with 3 per car.
Sean, let me know if you want a car to stop in SF and pick you up somewhere.
Once we get all that ironed out and head up we will plan to meet at the Ponderosa Lodge at Noon. It's on Main Street on the left, right after you pass W 6th Street (aka Bunker Hill Trail). It has a large parking area in the center of a U-shaped lodge. From there we'll head to a restaurant. The only suggestion I have come up with is the Lift House Bar and Grill which rates pretty good and has beer. We can decide as a group if there are other ideas.
I am not normally a fan of shuttle's so my experience is limited. If you have a better idea let me know. I think it would work best to drop off all of the gear at the starting point. Then leave non-drivers watching the gear and take all of the vehicles to the end point and then use one (maybe 2) vehicles to return to the starting point.
I'm not sure if it's relevant but my guest, Emily, will not arrive until after 7pm. So her car will be at the starting point.
We will need to get an early start on Saturday to beat the thunder and lightning. I'm thinking 7am (you can nap in the afternoon) but we can discuss.
My phone number is[masked]-2260. I have a number for Becky and Steve. It would be good to have a number for someone in each of the vehicles. They probably will not work up the trail but will help in Red River if someone is running late getting there.
