Spanning Cloud Apps (http://spanning.com/)and Treeline (http://treeline.io/) are generously supporting an evening with Brandon Mayes.

Easy things are often hard at scale. How do you write a Node.js application that can scale to process millions of records every day? How do you store billions of records in a database, and subsequently query this information six ways from Sunday in a timely fashion? How do you write an application in Node.js that can run for days or even weeks before it is done processing? These were all questions that had to be answered when designing Spanning Backup for Salesforce.

In this talk we will focus on architectural principles and design methodologies used by Spanning to handle long-running Node.js processes that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and enterprise-ready. Along the way we'll discuss some of the struggles we have faced, lessons learned, and areas still open for improvement.
