Food and Refreshments: beer, pizza and non-alcoholic options. We are collecting a $5 donation to cover these costs.
Once upon a time, the term "internet" meant that you could send a plain text file from Stanford to UCLA. Now the internet means everything from Facebook to filesharing to "social bookmarking" to Google Wave.
How is the structure of the internet changing, and what impact will it have on our ideas of "knowledge"? How can we change our thinking to stay ahead of the curve? And just what the heck is this "semantic web" thing anyway?
We'll have a moderator to give a quick introduction of the subject, and then kick the topic out to the floor for a friendly, laid-back discussion.
If you have any comments, or want to take a more active role planning this discussion, please contact Cristos.
PS. I just wanted to add that although I missed the beginning, I loved the discussion, it was very lively, energetic and informative, and Cristos did a great job of bringing understanding to the more hard to grasp aspects of this complex topic.
