Holiday Party

Bored with all those holiday parties where category theory is scarcely mentioned, if at all? Well hold on to your hats, because this party is NOT CONTAINED IN THAT SET.

ny-scala's first-ever holiday party will be held in conjunction with NYLUG and most of the New York functional language meetup community including LispNYC, Clojure NYC, Erlang NYC, Haskell NYC, OCaml NYC, and the N-Languages-in-N-Months meetups. Together we will "occupy" a classy bar just one block south of Zuccotti park.

Prepare yourself for stimulating conversation with functional friends and enemies. Suggested topics include:

Nice actor model you have there Erlang, would be a shame if something happened to it.

My programing language complects more idioms than yours.

Is anybody here *not* taking that coursea course?

There is no charge to attend, but the monad laws will be strictly enforced inside the venue.

I'm particularly interested in Category Theory and how it is used in Haskell [ie, Functors, Applicative Functors, Monoids and Monads]. Since interested in hearing about Erlang and other Functional Programming Languages I've changed my RSVP from Yes to No. BTW: if you enter something in "join the conversation" and then try to click RSVP, you can't go back and Post - seems like a bug.

Happy New Year to everyone - I'll be looking forward to discussions on CT and FP.
