We'll be welcoming Hannah Nordhaus, author of The Beekeeper’s Lament: How One Man and Half a Billion Honey Bees Help Feed America, published by Harper Perennial in May 2011. The book is a non-fiction portrait of an unusual fourth-generation beekeeper who travels the West with 10,000 beehives, making honey, pollinating crops, and struggling to keep his bees alive in the middle of a strange and sobering honey bee die-off.
A historian by training, Hannah is an award-winning journalist based in Boulder Colorado.
Hannah's book will be available for purchase & signing.
We're planning lovely seasonal refreshments again this time. We'll have many honeys to taste from member & community hives citywide, and a few gifted to us from sister cities. Beekeepers who want to swap honey, please bring some along!
We're asking each guest to donate $10 this time to defray the cost of refreshments.
To make an additional, tax-deductible charitable donation in support of NYC Beekeeping programs please go to www.honeybeeconservancy (http://thehoneybeeconservancy.org/)
