Mandi Walls: Operations Level Up

Details
This tutorial-style presentation was first given at Velocity Santa Clara 2013. This session is designed to help junior and mid-level operations practitioners to develop their skills and become more effective in their jobs. Topics will focus on using open source tools to build more robust processes for building, deploying, and maintaining web infrastructures.
Our topics and hands-on exercises will include: basics of git and its usefulness for operations teams: using tools for package creation on multiple systems: sanity checking: basic testing without a lot of code using BATS.
This talk runs as a tutorial. You are welcome to simply come and listen! If you'd like to follow along with the hands-on exercises, there's set up instructions here: https://gist.github.com/lnxchk/5791121
If you're unfamiliar with Vagrant and VirtualBox, ask Sean to have someone give a talk about them.
