Client/server code sharing, responsive <video>, + SVG animations - August Meetup

Details
This month we'll be showcasing a variety of topics. There will be 2 lightning talks and 1 full talk.
Sharing is Caring with Todd Kennedy (http://blog.selfassembled.org/)
Node.js allows us to use the same programming language that we use in the browser for our back-end. The rise of high-performance JavaScript engines on the client and the rise of single-paged applications adds a new dimension to programming. Frequently, however, we find ourselves violating the Don't Repeat Yourself principal and end up creating a set of models, views and controllers/routers that work on the back-end and a competing set that work on the front end. "This is an excellent idea" -- said no one ever.
The aim of this talk to provide a simple example of how you can use Backbone models and MongoDB allowing you to provide a single point to maintain their logic, validations and structure.
Responsive video - dealing with the good (html5) and the bad (flash fallback) with Wayne Warner (http://www.wawjr3d.com/)
I will discuss a solution for using one set of css rules for making an html5 video player and its flash fallback responsive. This solution allows your videos to be responsive on devices that don't support html5 while keeping device specific code to a minimum.
Animating SVG with Charles Kreps (https://twitter.com/charleskreps)
