Live Updating DOM Elements w/o a framework by Rose Weixel (http://twitter.com/RoseWeixel)

As a beginner web developer with only Rails and Javascript in my toolbox, I wanted to make a social network with live notifications that don't require a page refresh. This talk goes through my first (flawed) attempts at making this work, and how I figured out how to use Ajax to compare elements on the front end with data on the back end to create an intelligently updating page.

Building HTML5 Apps without a server using Ember.js & Firebase by Brendan OHara (http://twitter.com/brendanohara)

Brendan OHara will walk us through building a full featured chat app without a dedicated server using Ember.js, Firebase, Firebase Hosting, Twilio and Filepicker. This will leverage the world of API based services available to HTML5 app developers and will give a glimpse into where in the stack HTML5 developers add the most value.
