Imani Garden Wild Design Exercise II - Plants in the Landscape

From: Rupert
Sent on: Friday, May 29, 2009 5:53 PM
Imani Garden's Wild Design Exercise Part II - Plants in the Landscape* 2-4pm, $10 suggested donation, sliding scale, no one turned away!

The first design exercise was all about structures in the garden - we mapped out the best locations for items such as water catchment, sheds, seating, etc...

In this exercise we will introduce and discuss a series of highly productive, mostly native, "permaculture plants" for use in the garden and recap the design process to refresh our memories and for anyone that missed the first session.

Then we will break into groups and take part in a collaborative design session using our new plant and design knowledge. Scale maps, colored pencils, trace, and clipboards provided. You are welcome to bring your own supplies!

In addition there will be a chance to help plant strawberries in our edible landscape!

Trowels welcome!

Come early for the garden workday and potluck**, stay for wild design!

*suggested donation $10 (for materials, surplus donations go to buy plants for the garden!)
**see the other listing for May 30th for the workday and potluck!

(The "Wild Design" concept of super-fast garden design as an exercise was created by permaculturists Dave Jacke and Jono Neiger to facilitate learning about the design process)
