Open Lab Wednesday - Protein Expression Gathering
Details
Proteins are derived from genes and are the stuff of life. There are structural proteins like the silk molecule and proteins that catalyze a chemical reaction - these are enzymes. This Open Lab Wednesday meeting is a continuation of this series. We will continue to informally discuss the topic of how to express proteins from their genes in organisms - bacteria, yeast, mammalian cells and work towards having group members learn to express a protein of interest.

Bring your computer or tablet to this meetup and we will go over how to get the DNA sequence of a gene from the public databases. Hands on experience with basic bioinformatics.
Do you have an idea of a protein to express or do you want to help with a project? Lets talk about it?
Conceived in the spirit of the VHS's open nights, this will be an opportunity to bring whatever your working on, whatever ideas you have, to an informal meet'n'greet at our lab.
There are no requirements for these meetups, just come yourself, meet anyone and everyone involved, learn about potential projects, propose your own, and see our lab as it has evolved until now!
