AWeber started using Python around 2008-09. It quickly became the standard language for new development, and is paving the path towards the future of their product and platform. In this talk, AWeber Chief Technology Officer Brian K. Jones discusses the considerations, ramifications, and some of the ups and downs of scaling both a platform and an organization using Python.

He’ll answer questions like:

  • How does the company’s use of Python impact how AWeber hires?

  • How deeply does Python penetrate the stack? Is it really “everywhere”?

  • What challenges have been overcome in AWeber’s use of Python, and what challenges are you working on now?

  • What concerns do we think about in defining a ‘supported language’?

  • ...and more
