Hi All,
We are going to kick off our 2013 technical talks with a series of three talks delivered by the developers of 50 on Red. Here is our agenda:
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM: Food, networking, a word from our sponsor (50 on Red)
7:30 PM - 8:00 PM: Technical talks by 50 on Red
8:00 PM - 8:30 PM: Lightning talks (open to anyone)
8:30 PM: Leave for social / happy hour
Here is a rough outline of the technical talks:
Flask vs. Django

Show a simple website built using Flask and compare that same website built with Django

Talk about design pattern differences and how the frameworks either get involved or stay out of your way
Application Dispatching and Async Processing using Flask and RQ

Creating multiple application contexts in Flask using middleware

Executing tasks asynchronously using RQ

Talk about other ways code can be exectued in parallel (threads, multiprocessing, gevent)
Python and Why It Didn't Work for Us

Dealing with very large data structures in memory
