Thanks Suzanne. I hope your recovery from your surgery goes well. Cheers, Paul

Paul,
I wanted to chime in with some others from our group-I appreciate the effort you took to set up the meetings, select topics, facilitate (and sometimes ~mediate~) our discussions  and all the other things that are required of a group leader.I also wanted to thank you and everyone else in the group for making the group 'welcoming' and not intimidating to new members.
I look forward to seeing what kind of creative discussion topics that David will initiate. I will be at the next Meetup after I am able to be 'out and about' again (finally had my neck surgery a few days ago).
Cheers, I look forward to seeing everyone (again) soon.

Subject: [philosophy-184] Organizer Change

Hi Everyone,

After three years as organizer of the SF Philosophy Group I'm stepping down and appointing my friend David Shalen as my successor. David is a perfect replacement as he's a long-time regular who knows the group, a devoted student of philosophy, and a kind, fair-minded person.

These years as organizer have been very rewarding. I've learned a lot and have met a lot of great philosophical people, some of whom have become friends. I thank everyone who has come out during my tenure to make the group the vibrant success it is today.

There are two reasons I'm stepping down. First, I think it's good for a group like ours for the guiding personality to change at intervals to keep style and ideas, among other things, fresh. Second, my own philosophical interests have narrowed over these years to fiction writing, and so framing good general topics for the group to discuss, and leading a good discussion of them, has become more of a reach for me.

Tonight I'll be discussing with David ideas for keeping the group on its upward path. I'm sure David will be a great organizer given our cooperation and support.

I will continue to attend meets, and look forward to this new phase of our conversation.

Best,
Paul
