About us
Two Hands Philosophy (formerly San Francisco Philosophy) is a social club devoted to academic philosophy, liberated from the university and rehoused at the wine bar, or the walk in the park. We meet weekly for open discussion and gather our sources to learn from each other.

How can AI syntax become semantics?
Aquitaine Wine Bar & Bistro, 216 Church St, San Francisco, CA, USWe are hosting a series of discussions focused on the philosophy of AI. Our motivating questions are whether today's LLMs have knowledge, whether they are conscious, whether they have agency, and finally whether they can be moral.
This week we consider how computers that are putatively purely syntactic can also be semantic, for which we will read and discuss this paper.
