Horniman picnic

Come play on the sound sculptures, see the llama, explore the aquarium and museum.  Bring food or purchase food from the Farmers' Market.  Bring kids if you have any - this is a child friendly event.  There is lots to do inside and a coffee shop/cafe if the weather turns ugly.

How to get there: the museum is a 10 minute walk up the hill from Forest Hill station , trains from London Bridge or the overground  West Croydon or Crystal Palace Line.

Meet by the sound sculptures near the bandstand - to find it just enter the museum drive and keep straight on up the hill.  The sound sculptures are just to the left before you get to the Farmers' Market.

Thank you for organizing this, it was great to get to meet people. Pity about the weather but it was a lovely day anyway.

Hi guys. Was really hoping to make it but don't think my injury and energy levels will allow as it's a long way for me to come with my small one and picnic stuff. Hope you all have a great time and hope there will be another thing like this that I can come to in the future.

    Hi guys
Info for Saturday at the Horniman.
The farmers market packs up at 1.30pm if you are planing to buy food. The cafe will be open and if it's raining we will head in there. We will bring the parrot so you can spot us and I will be wearing a hat either a pork pie one or my top hat.
Did I mention the Horniman Warus
For those of you on twitter he tweets :-)

Hello Everyone. First timer. Any recommendations what to bring to the picnic? Mexican picnics are 360 degrees different from British picnics. Thanks^_^

LOL was talking about board games. I don't get drunk, it's never been my style, so there won't be any problem on my behalf.

I'll have to give this one a miss, it classes with an evening I am organising, and I don't want to feel rushed.

It should be simple. If the idea is directed to everyone in the group, a restaurant, pub, etc would be best. Any other ideas seems more for people who already know each other, etc. I agree that a house/flat can host a few people only. And sorry, my house its my castle. I wont let anyone i dont know in.

Is it the one in Camden?. Sounds good as well.

Lincon inn fields is behind high Holborn near to the Pendrals oak pub.

thoughts I have, 1) somewhere informal that has a variety of dishes and can cope with vegetarians, vegans as well as meat eaters. 2) a poly dining club were we pick a different place each month, or an American idea the poly pot luck where we meet in people's homes and all bring something to the meal.

on (1) do such places really exist? on (2) the homes thing only works for people with plenty of room. I, for instance, can only feed multiple people in my flat if most of them are in bed at the time (not, in itself, a bad thing) because the place is so small.

      1 · June 9, 2014

    • Lyndon

Places like (1) basically don't exist, since any place serious about vegan food won't serve meat.

I can never make the mid week meet ups, so something on the weekends would be good.

    June 9, 2014

    • Benjamin

Seems menbers are struggling as 2 which day of the week will suit everyone. Why not one on the weekend and the other on a normal meeting day every quarter to satifsfy all ?

      June 9, 2014

  • Alison Wheeler (.

I like this idea, though it would depend on the likely cost. Also, weekday afternoons are good for some of us!

    June 7, 2014

    • davidm

How about a weekday brunch for those of us who are free during the day.

      June 8, 2014

/me makes a big tick mark against this

Wonderful idea, can the group look at somewhere apart from the normal comfort zone ? There is a place in croydon that offers a very nice chinese buffer for £6 per person. Will certainly attend to get baptised into the group .

    1 · June 8, 2014

Or we can combine weekends and mid week, around 19:00/20:00.

    1 · June 8, 2014

  • Silvia

weekends probably suits more of us. If you can get a deal, probably the same restaurant would be better. Don't know!

    June 8, 2014

  • Julie

I find Tues evenings very difficult to get to London, so a weekend event would be of interest.
