Climbing Denali...Old Skool - Potluck & Slideshow

Details
6:30 PM Potluck | 7:15 PM Slideshow
In 1975, Fred Smith, an H/B 4-season leader, and a few pals climbed Denali, taking on the trip of a lifetime, with modern gear at the time and none of the modern infrastructure we have today...just enough knowledge to be dangerous and a naive faith in their post-adolescent indestructability. As a self-indulgent exercise in remembering, Fred scanned those slides in 2009, and four years later Photoshopped hundreds of little spots of cellar mold in the emulsion and make the show presentable. Would people today be interested in a forty-year-old climb? It is kind of ancient history, but it makes an interesting contrast with all the technical climbing gear we have at our fingertips today.
