Imagine a deep-dive into Flux patterns, Webpack, Jest, Flow, and much more - we've got it all. But it doesn't stop there; we also explore React's influence on the broader JavaScript cosmos and how it harmonizes with other essential tools.
Our mission? Simple. To empower you to build awe-inspiring projects by fostering a profound understanding of the myriad of interconnected technologies that fuel React.
What's a meetup without some fun, right? We kick off our gatherings with a chill hangout session - great food, refreshing drinks, and even better company! Then, we move on to the main event, an in-depth talk that'll leave you with a truckload of knowledge and inspiration. Hey Everyone! We're partnering with AtlantaJS, Modern Web Atl, and Vue.js Atlanta to host Rob Dominguez from Hasura!

Beyond Boilerplate Resolvers: A Compiler-Based Approach to Building GraphQL APIs
Building CRUD APIs is boring. Operating APIs at scale is hard. GraphQL is easy to consume but hard to create and expose. REST APIs have their own challenges. As a backend engineer, how do you escape this loop of writing a lot of boilerplate code and optimizing for performance and security?
In this talk, we will go over the complexities of creating a GraphQL API and how the compiler-based approach to APIs can accelerate 60-70% of your API work.
Key Takeaways:- Why GraphQL is hard
- Resolver vs. compiler approach
- Automating CRUD APIs with the Hasura GraphQL Engine
- Writing non-trivial business logic code in Node
- Performance benchmarks
Are you navigating the complexities of GraphQL API creation and striving for high performance in your Node backend stack? Whether you're a GraphQL enthusiast, a Node developer, or someone striving for optimal API performance, this talk will equip you enough to accelerate your API creation journey and focus on meaningful backend work.
About the Speaker:
Rob Dominguez is a senior software engineer at Hasura, where he ostensibly focuses on documentation—though he'd argue it's just a fancy way of avoiding real work. Despite his technical acumen in AI, tooling, and TypeScript, Rob is a self-described lazy developer. He insists this laziness is actually efficiency, a claim met with both amusement and applause by his peers who realize it’s actually quite strategic.
Rob’s true passion lies in sharing insights and learning from others; he’s constantly seeking to expand his island of knowledge as his shore of ignorance grows.
Location:
We are at Tech Square ATL in the Clubhouse. The entrance is on Ambercrombie Pl NW, between Spring St and Williams St, close to LA Fitness and only a few blocks away from the Midtown and North Ave. MARTA stations.
Paid parking is available at the Centergy One parking deck, located right next door.Thank you to our sponsors, TrackJS and Stytch! 👏
