What we’re about

You have found the home of the Rochester Hiking Meetup Group. It is here to help people interested in hiking to hike and to meet each other. We're active all year long. What's more, we have many members who are crossover members from other local Meetup groups, so opportunities to investigate and enjoy other interests abound.
RHMG should not be confused with a walking group, but we have scheduled activities suitable for hikers of varying abilities. Be sure to check individual hike descriptions for information about the level of difficulty, and contact the hike leader with more specific questions about the pace and terrain.
Please note that we regretfully do not allow pets at our regular activities activities, but we do try to arrange one dog hike per month.

Hike Name: Hike With/Without Your Dog - Charles E. Sexton Memorial Park (formerly known as North Ponds Park), Bird Sanctuary and Chiyoda Trails Hike.
Hike Date: Saturday, July 5, 10 a.m..
Difficulty/Terrain: Easy/moderate.
Distance: ~90 minute hike.
Where to Park/Meet: Meet in the parking area at the south end of North Ponds Park on the frontage road next to Route 104 , Webster.
PLEASE NOTE THAT, ALTHOUGH THE OFFICIAL ADDRESS OF NORTH PONDS PARK IS HOLT ROAD, THE PARK HAS TO BE ACCESSED FROM ROUTE 250 NOT HOLT ROAD. TURN WEST OFF ROUTE 250 IMMEDIATELY NORTH OF RT 104. AND FOLLOW THE FRONTAGE ROAD TO NORTH PONDS PARK. (Click on map for location and directions.)

Other Notes/Comments:
As all our regular hikes are no-pet events we are scheduling one of our occasional hike-with-your-dog outings from North Ponds Park.
The hike is intended for, but not limited to, people who wish to bring their pets.
As always the rules of the county parks apply:
"All pets must be leashed and you are responsible for cleaning up after them."

Hike Name: Brighton Neighborhood/Auburn Trail Evening Hike.
Hike Date: Sunday July 13, 6 p.m.
Difficulty/Terrain: Moderate. Mostly flat. Pavement/gravel.
Distance: 5.5 mile.
Where to Park/Meet: Meet Indian Landing School off Forest Hills Road in the lower parking lot by the playground. (See map for location and directions).

A reminder: pets are not allowed on the evening hikes.

This is a Rochester Hiking Meetup Group hike. Hiking with RHMG the hikes are free, but we do ask that you consider becoming a member of our sister club, the Genesee Valley Hiking Club for $10 a year. Membership dues help support RHMG and GVHC administrative costs, the costs of the meetup sites and rental of a lodge or other facility for a picnic or winter event. Please see,
