What we're about

You have found the home of the Rochester Hiking Meetup Group. It is here to help people interested in hiking to hike and to meet each other. We're active all year long. What's more, we have many members who are crossover members from other local Meetup groups, so opportunities to investigate and enjoy other interests abound.

RHMG should not be confused with a walking group, but we have scheduled activities suitable for hikers of varying abilities. Be sure to check individual hike descriptions for information about the level of difficulty, and contact the hike leader with more specific questions about the pace and terrain.

Please note that we regretfully do not allow pets at our regular activities activities, but we do try to arrange one dog hike per month.

Meridian Center Park

Hike Name: Hike with (or without) Your Dog, Meridian Center Park & Erie Canal.
Hike Date: Sunday June 4, 10 a.m.
Difficulty/Terrain: Easy/moderate, flat.
Distance: 90 minute (~3.5) mile hike.
Where to Park/Meet: Meet at Meridian Center Park, off 2025 Winton Road. Meridian Center Boulevard is the first turn off Winton Road north of the Erie Canal. Go east on Meridian Center Boulevard and then left (south) into the business park. Take the first right for Building 100 (Allstate). Park behind this building and beside the park near the playground. (See map for location and directions.)

Other Note/ Comments. We will walk most of the trails in this small park with its uniquely framed boardwalks.
As all our regular hikes are no-pet events we are scheduling one of our occasional hike-with-your-dog outings at Meridian Center Park.
The hike is intended for, but not limited to, people who wish to bring their pets.
As always the rules of the county parks apply:
"All pets must be leashed and you are responsible for cleaning up after them." Therefore for this outing all dogs must be leashed while in the park and you must clean up after them!

If you are unable to attend an event and don’t change your hike response, it costs other hikers the opportunity to be on the hike.
Signing up for multiple hikes held at the same time produces the same result.

This is a Rochester Hiking Meetup Group hike. Hiking with either of our 2 groups, RHMG or Genesee Valley Hiking Club (GVHC) the hikes are free, but we do ask that you consider becoming a member for merely $10 a year.
