As readers of this blog may know, our friend Professor Murray Sabrin of Ramapo College is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. senator from New Jersey as a Ron Paul Republican. The primary is June 3.
Murray ran for the senate in 2000, and here is some of what the South Jersey Courier-Post newspaper said about him in a June 4, 2000 editorial entitled "GOP Voters Should Pick Sabrin":
"When Murray Sabrin speaks, the special intersts sweat. Big-government bureaucrats furrow their brows. The purveyors of political correctness swallow hard."
"In a field of three self-proclaimed Republicans" he's "the one true conservative."
"Sabrin is an unapologetic defender of personal liberties and an advocate for less government interference in peoples' lives."
"He's a strong defender of the Second Amendment and wants to abolish a slew of taxes."
"He supports . . . the elimination of the federal departmens of housing, education and commerce. He wants to end federal funding to the arts and stop sending U.S. soldiers overseas to join foreign conflicts."
"Sabrin came to this country in 1949, the son of parents who were the only ones in their respective families to survive the Holocaust. Perhaps because of his unique perspective, he cherishes the rights and liberties that too many Americans take for granted."
"Republicans who want a candidate who supports personal rights, limited government and traditional, core GOP values have their man in Sabrin."
This is all as true of Murray Sabrin today as it was eight years ago. I've already given the maximum allowable donation to his campaign, and I invite all of you to contribute whatever you can on the above link.
