Buzz Words for May
By Leo N. Holzer
Chapter president
Hello everyone.
I hope you’ll be able to join us for our special early meeting set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the North Natomas Regional Park — just up the road a bit from the North Natomas Public Library branch.
We’ll meet at the picnic tables. Bring a cold drink, a snack or something to eat and a few bucks for a very fun fundraiser — our Quarter Auction.
A one-time $5 donation buy-in will give you 40 credits worth $10 to spend at the auction. Bids are in quarter increments. Bids will begin at 20 quarters/$5.
We’ll have 10 to 12 items concealed in bags or boxes worth a minimum of $8 to $10 each — and a couple worth a whole lot more.
Part of the fun is seeing what you’ve bid on sight unseen and being delighted with your purchase OR wishing you would have bid just a little more.
Proceeds from the quarter auction will go into the chapter’s general fund to help pay for the club’s mailbox as well as our annual ice cream social and holiday deli tray.
After the auction, we’ll take a break so people can grab dinner and return to our regular meeting location around 7 p.m. for a discussion of Disney news including a review of the first two episodes of History Channel’s “How Disney Built America.”
If time permits, we may also take a look at Ford’s Magic Skyway, which was one of four New York World’s Fair attractions designed 60 years ago by Walt Disney Imagineering.
