Hike With Dogs

Bring your dog and hike!

This will be a two hour hike in the Santa Monica Mountains. It is an out and back hike about 3.5 miles round-trip.

Start with your dog on the leash and then the dogs can roam. This is also a good workout hike. Bring your water for you and your dog. Free parking on street. See you at 9:00am sharp.

It was very nice for me and my daughter to join you all for a mini hike this morning. Todd, thank you for organising the outing.

We have been doing these Dogs hikes for 5+ years. We have never had any problems and all Dogs can do the hike. On another note, would anyone want to do Rattlesnake Avoidence Training.

    Thanks,
    Todd

Hi Todd. I'd very much like to do Rattlesnake Avoidance Training. My dog has been vaccinated, but it's only partial protection, and I was reading about RAT and thinking I'd really like to do it. —Jen

Just wondering how long you estimate the hike to take starting at 9 am with the dogs ?

Hi, just a question: what kind of terrain is this? My dog is healthy but just wondering. We recently started running together 1.2 miles about 3 times a week, so I'm hoping she can get through 3+ miles hike. thanks

    • Nanette P.

It's easy terrain. Make sure you bring LOTS of water for both of you.

My friends Dog just got attacked by a Pitt. The dog almost lost her eye from the bite. Now I'm somewhat nervous about bringing my Pup around so many pooches. May we request that hikers only bring socialized Doggies on this Hike?

Hi Annie, thanks for the reassurance. My lil Huckleberry is fine. It was a friend's pooch that was attacked, but it has definitely put a bug in my head.

I think Jenna's suggestion is a good one. Not sure it is a good idea for all of us to write basic info about our dogs in the comments here, since there are 65 guests, but I will say that my 8 year old mini schnauzer has been around dogs off leash many, many times and has long, long ago given up his one bad habit of picking on tinier dogs than him.

I have a 2 year old Mini Schnauzer. She's a spaz, but super friendly. She's been through several training classes, including puppy socialization.

Great, I did not know one could add guests, so I have added my friend Heidi, who lives in Brentwood and her dog, a German Shorthair Pointer, Abbey, who is also very friendly etc.
