UPDATE... CONDITIONS PERFECT! The roads are clear, the trail is in great shape after the rains. NO WIND and the temperatures were very pleasant. Light jacket should do but bring a cap and gloves just in case. PREPARE TO DRESS WARM ANYWAY!!! Newcomb's closes at 4 so Mins Kitchen 1040 Foothill Blvd, La Canada is reserved for dinner at 4 p.m.

Distance - 7 miles
Elevation Gain - 1627 ft.
Duration 3.5 to 4 hours from trailhead.
Difficulty - Intermediate

A predominantly shaded, gently graded 7 mile hike to the mostly-exposed peak of Mount Islip. Lots of beautiful Ponderosa Pine on the way. This hike offers unparalleled views of the Yerba Santa "Ampitheatre" and nearby middle peaks of the San Gabriels. There is also a well-maintained campground – Little Jimmy – on the route, and an old ruined stone cabin near the peak of Mount Islip that provides some local interest.

Temps should be a high of 43 degrees at the summit, (a bit cooler towards sunset) so wear warm attire... Sometimes we get a little surprise at the top temperature wise, so be prepared. Current chance of precipitation is zero %. No matter what the conditions, It is always a beautiful hike!
