FRESHLY FALLEN SNOW / MT ISLIP / NEWCOMBS RANCH

SEE Y'ALL THERE!!

The weatherman (who is sometimes right) predicts a freakish SNOWSTORM above 6,000 ft on Thursday / Friday of this week...

IF (and that's a BIG "IF" ) that's the case, AND if it's SUNNY on Saturday as well... then we may have some AWESOME hiking conditions and photo ops...

We'll meet at NEWCOMBS RANCH at 11:00AM, get Adventure passes (ONE PER VEHICLE) and a quick cup o' Joe;

LEAVE NEWCOMBS AT 11:30 AND caravan another 20 minutes to the ISLIP parking lot...

(GIVE YOURSELF 1 HOUR 15 MINUTES FROM THE WEST SIDE TO GET TO NEWCOMBS RANCH - in other words - leave the West Side 9:30AM to get to Newcombs by 11 AM)

( OR just meet at the ISLIP PARKING LOT at NOON )

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH GAS IN YOUR TANK... NO GAS STATIONS UP THERE... THERE'S A GAS STATION SOUTH OF THE CORNER OF THE 210 AND THE 2

HIKE is 6 miles... approx 1,500 ft elevation gain, and will take ( with occasional stops, and a stop at the top for a snack) approx 4 hours, PROBABLY MORE if there's snow on the ground

we'll RETURN to Newcombs after the hike for food and libations...
