The hike meanders thru oak trees and winding trails, around several rock formations approx 5.2 MILES roundtrip past Eagle Rock. 750 Ft elevation gain. GREAT for beginners. We'll stop on top of Eagle rock for at least a half hour to rest / relax / snack and check out a couple small caves. Should take AROUND 3 hours AT A RELAXED PACE.

DIRECTIONS:
From the Ventura Freeway (101), exit at Topanga Canyon Boulevard, drive south over the crest of the mountains and proceed three miles to Entrada Road (not Entrado!) and turn left. Keep to the left at every opportunity until you reach the park's main parking lot (about one mile)

From Pacific Coast Highway, travel north on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, pass the post office at the center of "town," then turn right on Entrada Road. Keep to the left at every opportunity until you reach the park's main parking lot (about one mile).

Parking is APPROX $10.00 (exact change) in Park. There is some street parking (free) outside of the park on the road.

Bring at least 1 qt of water

Sorry, no dogs allowed as this is a state park

TOPANGA DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VERY cool, bohemian faire... LOVE this event... LIVE Bands / Great Food and libations.

http://www.topangadays.com/index.html

There's parking all along Topanga Blvd... it's at the Community Center... 1440 N. Topanga Cyn. Bl.   approx 2 miles NORTH of Entrada Blvd (the Entrance to the hike)

There are also SHUTTLE STOPS all along Topanga Blvd. The faire lasts until sunset, I believe... because in typical Topanga fashion... there is no end time on the webpage...

since we'll all be arriving at different times after the hike... the best thing I can think of is to try to meet at 430PM to the right of the main stage... there's plenty to see and do even if we get separated as a group.

Oh... and don't worry if we're a bit "odiferous" after the hike... it will allow us to better fit in with the Topanga crowd...  ;-)

OMG. This day totally ROCKed. First the nice (but easy) hike to Eagle ROCK. First time I've been to Eagle ROCK- What a relaxing place. Then the day really started to ROCK!; The band at Topanga Days was "Chevy Metal" which is actually members of the FOO FIGHTERS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fo... and other famous/not-so-famous bands doing dirt-ROCK cover tunes. Todays lineup included Foo guitarist Chris Shiflethttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch... & Foo Drummer Taylor Hawkinshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ta... . I got so enthralled watching Hawkins that I lost track of the meet up group. (Hawkins is one of the top drummers on the planet). I stayed until security kicked me out. Finally walked back to my car & noticed ThatJohnGuys & other car still sitting there. Thought ya'll might be in Froggys and regret I missed the after sundown fun but needed to get home and prepare for a hike on Sunday. ThatJohnGuy You ROCK 4 putting this on. Whataf*ckinROCKingday!!!

I had a great time! This was my first meetup ever. I assumed I would go for the hike and then go home but then I went to Topanga Days and dinner at a place called Frogs I think. I ended up being out with the group for 8 hours. I didn't know anyone and the leader and participants were a lot of fun, warm, welcoming and inviting. I'd definately go again!

I'm in N.Redondo. Anyone want to carpool from S.Bay/LAX area or meet along the 405 Culver City area? Share gas expense and $10.00 parking fee expense at the Topanga State Park trail head (in case we can't find street parking out on the road).

$20.00 admission fee for Topanga Days Festival. FYI

@ThatJohnGuy.. You describe Topanga Days as a"VERY cool, bohemian faire"?? So we should expect sweet smells of Petula Oil perfume, jasmine incense, 420, and odoferous Hippies, right?

Hi Sondra, Tejinder and I are planning to carpool since we both live in Sherman Oaks. Maybe we can all go together. I don't mind driving.

Since John mentioned carpooling, if anyone is in the SFV let me know, I will be coming from Sherman Oaks and can pick up people along the way (Valley Village, Encino, Reseda, Woodland Hills etc)

DOH!!!! the number of RSVPs kinda got outta control... CARPOOLING may be a good idea... my suggestion, the corner of Topanga and PCH there is 1/4 mile of parking on each side of Topanga... if people were to meet there at 11:15 / 11:30 and carpool up that would help... I'll stop by at 11:11 (Burgundy SUV with bike on back) and pick people up.

Looking forward to both the hike and the festival. Your best shot at getting any kind of schedule for the event is to look at the music schedule on the Topanga Days website. Also, shuttle runs from 10 - 7, according to site.
