PRESENTATIONS:

Recursion: Making Big Problems Smaller (by Jeremy Lindblom)

Recursion is a key concept in programming, and can be used to simplify code and create elegant solutions. It's also has a reputation of being a little hard to learn. I will show you that it is not as difficult as you think, and that you can take a formulaic approach to writing recursive functions. Doing so will allow you to solve big problems, by dividing them up into smaller, easier ones.

Introduction to the Laravel Framework (by Maks Surguy)

Laravel is a young PHP framework that has been charming the PHP community with its eloquence and clean syntax. This framework is a full stack framework simplifying your life as a developer by providing you with caching, ORM, templating, session management and many more solid components.

In this presentation Maks will introduce you to Laravel, show you a few examples of real websites built with the framework and snippets of code illustrating the benefits of using Laravel in your PHP projects. If you are not using a framework - this will be a great intro as to why there might be a need for one, if you are using one - it wouldn't hurt to learn about the way Laravel does certain things.

Caution: Laravel might change your life and make you build stuff you've always dreamt to build. You have been warned.

Maks is a PHP web developer enthusiastic about Laravel PHP framework. He is the creator of many developer-friendly websites like http://bootsnipp.com, http://cheatsheetr.com, http://builtwithlaravel.com, http://laravel-tricks.com and more. He writes Web Development tutorials on http://maxoffsky.com and a book with Manning Publications called "Laravel in Action": http://manning.com/surguy

Originally, he is from Ukraine where he was a professional breakdancer by night and a geek by day. He moved to the USA in 2004 with his parents and his brother.

Besides coding, designing and creating new websites Maks enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his wife.
