If you like whiskey why not come to support the animals?
Tasting is from 3-8 pm and proceeds go to Animal Rescue Foundation. Come support a great cause and have fun!
This tasting will not only take us all over the map , but it will also include whiskies of wider variety, leading us from simpler expressions of the malt, to more complex whisky where the terroir comes into play, and finally to the pinnacle of maturation and the impacts of barrel age.
Speyburn 10 year, Region: Speyside Smooth, smooth, smooth. The clean taste of this at first fooled me into thinking it was simple, but then you start to appreciate the salty character. (Tapenade)
Lismore Single, Region: Speyside Very clean, almost nutty, a great cross over whisky for Bourbon drinkers. Lacking almost any peat or smokiness, super clean and smooth. (Fresh-roasted macadamia nuts)
Eradour 10 year, Region: Highlands From Scotlands smallest distillery, the descriptions Ive read on this are so complex (mint, peppery, caramel, sweet, creamy), well have to wait to taste it to do the pairings.
Glenmorangie 12 year Port, Region:Highlands Those parsimonious Scots (no, they are not cheap!) started reusing sherry and Port barrels centuries ago to age their whiskies. We guess you could say they were the original recyclers. At any rate, the flavors are very complementary. (Chocolate)
Laphroaig Cask, Region:Islay - Take the smokiest brand from the smokiest region, Islay (eye-lah), and age in barrels of the size of normal barrels to intensify the flavor, and alcoholic proof. And what do you have? This is our ringer, come for this if for nothing else. Again, well know exactly what to pair it with when we hear the angels sing.
