Dick,

What is your chow chow Red mixed with? I would contact the leasing office
and discuss this issue. Tell them that Red is non aggressive breed and is a
companion to your lab. Tell them that Red is still a puppy and loves dogs
and wanted to play and simply say hello.... That you have him on leash 100%
of the time and he is well behaved but just wanted to say hi to the other
dog....Tell them you have him enrolled in an obedience class. Tell them that
he got off leash by accident and it will never happen again. Tell them that
you would be willing to write a formal letter of apology to the owner that
complained to clear the air.(include a bag of dog bones for good cheer) You
can drop the letter to the leasing agent and they can deliver it to the
complainer. There are always options besides giving him up. Your lab will be
bummed out if Red has to go. I would keep a humble tone, be very very
friendly, blame no one, offer to be friendly to the complainer and be very
friendly to the leasing agent.

If this doesn't work, go to a friend that's a psychologist and have him
write you a prescription that states that your chow chow Red be used in
therapy to reduce your anxiety, they can't tell you that you can't follow
your doctor's recommendation. Horses are used in therapy for the
handicapped, so why can't your chow chow Red be used in therapy for you? LOL

Subject: [activedogs-150] From Meetup member Dick Ellingson: Red needs a
home. He has been evicted

Please forgive my use of this for a non-meetup topic.

My 16 month old Chow Chow mix has been evicted. He got away from me and
ran to meet another dog. The dog's owner was frightened and complained
and I have to find Red a new home. I have very little time. I've
phoned all the no-kill shelters I can find, get only voice mail at all
of them. If anyone can help me, please call (206) 498-1014. I'm desperate!

See Red at http://bad.bounde...

He's a sweet and loving dog, but just a puppy, and I'm gone 12 hours a
day 4 days a week. He stays home with Max, my Lab mix.

I need help. Even a foster home while I find a permanent home for him
would be wonderful. Naturally, I'll pay all expenses and for your time
and trouble.

I don't want Red to be killed.

Thanks a lot for any help or ideas you can give me.
