Designing and Documenting User Interactions with Darcy Clarke

Designing and Documenting User Interactions

Onboarding someone new to a foreign project can be time consuming. Creating a platform or project that is meant to be used by thousands of people, with many moving parts, dependancies and paradigms will gain zero traction if good documentation and resources aren't provided. To add to this, until now, generating documentation that reflects user interactions has been mostly neglected.

Developers focus on documenting functionality in JavaScript while leaving out critical HTML/CSS implementations and states. In this talk, Darcy will address this issue and dive into new tools and conventions that any front end project or team can implement easily and help others understand their thinking, architecture and design.

About the Speaker

Thanks to the organizers and to Darcy for the great talk. It was very nice to meet some new folks.

As I shared with some of you, at Lonely Planet (the most awesome Travel Guide in the world) we're looking for cool companies and talented people to work with all around the world. We have offices in Melbourne (Australia), London and now we're building a new campus in the US and we're hiring iOS, Ruby, Android and Frontend developers. If you want to chat about it send me an email to [masked]

See you in the next Meetup!

If you've been writing HTML for a while, you might find this interesting: "Only 90s Web Developers Remember This" at http://zachholman.com/posts/only-90s-developers/.
Remember <blink> and <marquee>? 1x1.gif? ? Lots more where those came from.
