The Housing Crisis In San Francisco

Details
Housing is a major crisis in San Francisco. As pressure mounts, an increasing number of renters face eviction that for many means relocation out of the city or out of the Bay Area. J. Scott Weaver will discuss the extent, causes and human impact of these evictions. He will also discuss some of the solutions that are being considered.
Mr. Weaver has over 40 years experience in tenants and housing issues in San Francisco. He authored an eviction Study in 1979 which first put that problem on the map. He has worked on various efforts to preserve and strengthen the City's rent control laws. He is also an attorney whose practice has focused on tenants rights. He co-authored Proposition I which was on last year's ballot as well as Eviction Protections 2.0 which was passed by the Board of Supervisors last September. He is currently co-authoring the 20th edition of California Tenants' Rights, published by Nolo Press.
We will have dinner at a nearby restaurant after the discussion.
The event is free, but we appreciate donations ($5 suggested) to help pay for the room. Everyone is welcome.
