2 talks featuring Alex Gaynor and Benjamin Peterson

Details

Join on us July 9th's presentation night. It will feature 2 talks:

  1. The death of MVC by Alex Gaynor

The last decade of web development has been dominated by self-styled “MVC” frameworks. MVC is a term that dates back to Smalltalk and GUIs. This talk will explore what MVC actually means in the context of modern web apps, and what building websites without “MVC” would look like.

Alex Gaynor is a software engineer at Rackspace and hacks on Django, PyPy, CPython, and Topaz.

  1. Anti-Patterns in Python by Benjamin Peterson

Poor discipline and design can make even small codebases hard to maintain. Large codebases magnify these problems as well as introducing unique challenges of their own. What bad patterns tend to emerge from growing codebases? Is there any hope of avoiding these anti-patterns and having beautiful if large codebases?

Benjamin Peterson is a core developer of CPython and PyPy and works at Dropbox's infrastructure.
