Project Night at Disqus

  • Aug 20, 2014 · 6:15 PM

On August 20, SF Python will bring its Project Night to Disqus.

Please email the leadership team if you are interested in:

• leading a tutorial

• being a mentor

• sponsoring alcoholic beverages

Who should attend?

• New to Python and want to work with other Pythonistas

• Experienced devs who want to hack on your work, personal or open-source projects

• Experienced devs who want to mentor others (please sign-up here)

The plan:

6:15p Begin check-in

6:40p Introductions: tell us about your project and/or the kind of help you seek

6:50p Make yourself comfortable and start hacking, or attend one of the tutorials

9:30p Wrap up

Example of projects to hack on:

• Personal side projects - your web application or personal learning project

• Open source projects - work on open issues or recruit developers for your project

• Work projects - work on anything you like and bounce ideas around

To help us get more organized, please submit your project ideas here:

To see what others are working on or to sign up for tutorials, click here: - We've currently got a Pyramid tutorial and an intermediate level asycio in Python 3.4 tutorial to offer...

Feel free to reach out to one of us in the leadership team with questions and suggestions. Looking forward to meeting you!

Doors will open at 6:15pm to allow enough time for the check-in process. Please update the name on your account to reflect your FIRST NAME and LAST NAME. Disqus and our organizers will be checking IDs at the door. Please enter your full name here. You WILL ONLY be allowed into the event if we have your first and last name (that matches the name on your ID) prior to the event. Since alcohol will be served at the event, we ask that any underage attendees RSVP directly to the meetup host.

Last week my name was not on the list, even though I RSVPd. How can I make sure I'm on the list this time?

    August 20, 2014

    • Simeon F.

Hey Jonathan - clicking on your profile shows that Meetup thinks you have only rsvp'ed to one meetup - tonight! Meetup doesn't show you as rsvp'ing for last weeks event and that's why we didn't have you on the list. Maybe it was Meetup's fault somehow - the good news is that your RSVP for tonight is secure! See you tonight!

Oh my 'dream' is creating a on-demand internet streaming company for movies that remain 'free' under content offered and scale from there.

Update on tutorials: Stephen Tu will be teaching an intermediate/Advanced class on Machine Learning with his project data-microscopes.

I'll be teaching a "Learning Python with Simple Games" class featuring Pyglet and 2d game creation. aimed at Python beginners.

I am new to python; could you let me know what kind of tutorials will be in tomorrow's Meetup? Thanks!

    2 · August 18, 2014

    • Simeon F.

We have an intermediate tutorial on async IO in Python 3.4, a beginner's walk-through of the Pyramid tutorial, probably a Flask class, and probably a Python-for-beginners class.
