New Meetup: Midsummer Night's Dream - Sunday July 19 - Volunteer Park

Announcing a new Meetup for the Seattle Shakespeare Readthrough Group!

What: Midsummer Night's Dream
When: July 19,[masked]:00 PM
Where: Volunteer Park [masked]th Ave E)

We'll meet directly at the park this time, right by the famed donut (the sculpture just above the reservoir, across from the Asian Art Museum). Please allow 15 minutes to park, find us, share out the parts, and whatnot. I will be there by 2:30PM in case you want to come early to talk about meetup business or just hang out. We'll do the reading itself at some secluded picnic table, supplemented with lawn chairs (I'm bringing 4). If you can't find us feel free to call me:[masked]-9671.

Please check your mail before heading to the park in case the weather looks iffy and we need to relocate. The most likely candidates would be the Canterbury pub or Victrola, both just a few blocks south on 15th.

This play has lots of good parts. We'll need at least 10 people for the biggies: Bottom (59 lines), Lysander (50), Demetrius (48), Hermia (48), Theseus (48), Quince (40), Helena (36), Puck (33), Oberon (29), and Titania (23) - and some of would still have to play two characters in a single scene.

If you'd like to claim a part in advance so you can prepare it, please go ahead! It's a slight departure from how we've done things so far, but I think it would be nice for people with that level of enthusiasm to know that they'll get to do what they prepared. But as always, and to reassure new members: absolutely no acting skill or homework required smile Part of what makes this group work so well is that it's low-key and stress-free.

Please join us if you can - the more the merrier. This looks like it'll be a fun one. Shame we can't bring some mead, sack, or at least small ale...
