Shut Up and Write! East Bay (Alameda) Marathon -- New Venue!

With the change of seasons, it seems like it's time to change cafes as well, and we're moving things indoors for the cooler months.

High Street Station Cafe (corner of High Street and Encinal Avenue) is a comfortable little spot with good coffee and a menu packed with salads, sandwiches, baked goods, and (should the writing wheel need a little greasing) wine and beer. There are lots of tables and comfortable chairs, and a couple couches as well. There's free Wi-Fi (with purchase--patronizing whatever cafe we occupy is strongly encouraged!) and enough electrical outlets for the laptops.

We'll officially start at noon (come whenever you can) and break at 2:00 p.m. for a brief check-in, then officially wrap up at 4:00. You can stay on and keep writing if you're on a roll. The cafe is open until 7:00, but on Tuesdays they host a charity dinner at 5:30 so you'd need to clear out by then.

Come check out this new Shut Up & Write venue!

(This replaces the Shut Up & Write sessions that have been taking place on Tuesday afternoons at Julie's. The patio was getting too loud and cold!)

I may be late today because I have a family member in the hospital but I'll get there as soon as I can.

Pol, you should stop by tomorrow, anyway, at whatever time you can. Even though the hours were changed to 12-4, I usually arrive early and am off and writing by 10:30-11. You could maybe get in an hour's writing. Also, if you haven't yet seen the new venue, you should. It's nice, the food is good, and if you drop in tomorrow, then when you return in the weeks to come, you will have less resistance to overcome regarding where the place is exactly, where you can park and not get a ticket after two hours, where inside would be best to work, what sort of coffee to have.... You know, all those first-time decisions that can pile up to ultimately derail your good writing intentions for the day when you decide it is all just too, too much and you cannot now get out of bed for any reason whatsoever. (Except to pee.)
