Shut Up & Write with the Writers!

Details

Tonight's meetup will offer a little something extra!

Launching our new series of intermittent guest writers, we'll be writing with Kate Asche (some of you already know her from the mini-workshop she did for us last year). She's been very supportive of SU&W since its inception and is an engaged and talented member of the Sacramento writing community.

About Kate:

Since 2005, Kate Asche, M.A., has taught creative writing workshops across genres in a variety of community and academic settings. A graduate of the UC Davis Creative Writing Program and local literary community builder, she publishes poetry and creative nonfiction and also writes short stories. Kate volunteers as contributing editor at Under the Gum Tree. Learn more about her at www.kateasche.com (http://www.kateasche.com/).

About Write with the Writers:

We will occasionally invite a writer from the wider writing community to join us for a writing session. The meetup will be the same as always, with everyone writing together for 1 hour. At the end, the guest writer will stick around for 20-30 minutes for a Q&A session about their writing style, habits, inspirations, writer's block, and whatever other questions we come up with!

**********************

You will see progress in your writing by spending the minimum of a single hour per week on it. This is your practice/focus time, so we hope to see you there.

Join other writers for an hour of focused writing!
6:00 - Arrival and getting seats, drinks, etc.
6:15 - Introductions
6:30 - Get down to business
7:30 - Finish up and have a brief check-in

After 7:30, feel free to stay and keep writing and/or getting to know one another. Old Soul is open until 10 pm, and offers a variety of food and beverages.

If you're spending too much time THINKING about writing, come join us for a session of focused writing. It may just be "pipe-cleaning" for now, but you'll feel better showing up at the page. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice.

Notes: Electrical outlets are not always available, so if you plan to use a laptop, make sure it's fully charged. We all tend to spread out throughout the cafes while we're working; however, you're encouraged to share tables so we don't take up too much space.
