Manhattanhenge, sunset in NYC

Details

Only twice a year the sun lines up with the street grid in NYC and you can photograph the setting sun in the middle of the street and glowing off the tall buildings. If the weather cooperates, it looks great.

We'll meet just east of Grand Central above 42nd St. on Tudor City Place. It is a little street that crosses over 42nd St. on an overpass and provides a great view down 42nd. It will be crowded, you may want to get there early to get a good position.

The ideal time will be 8:19 p.m. It doesn't last long but even if there are clouds, the blue hour looks great from there. Bring your telephoto lens to make the sun look bigger, 200mm works good.
