BetaCityYEG Meetup
Details
Join us for our evening BetaCityYEG meetup, working on projects and solutions that emerged out of our recent discussions. We are the city and region's citizen-led digital engagement group. Developers, civic employees, data enthusiasts, students, professionals and general engaged Edmontonians are all welcome! Anyone is free to stay past the one-hour meeting time and collaborate if they so wish.
We're going to have some great presentations from:
Robert Franz, Director - Centre for Sensors and System Integration (http://www.nait.ca/86269.htm) CSSI, NAIT. For a bit of background on what CSSI does, here is the link to the web page on the NAIT site: http://www.nait.ca/86269.htm
and
Karen Unland (Seen and Heard in Edmonton (http://seenandheardyeg.com/)) and Mack Male (blog.mastermaq.ca (http://blog.mastermaq.ca/)) will talk about co-founding Taproot, which is a curiosity-driven project to cultivate local journalism with the community and not just for it. The venture finds out what its members want to know and then commissions someone to answer those questions and spreads the answers widely. Learn more at taprootedmonton.ca (http://taprootedmonton.ca/).
Check out our site (http://betacity.ca), a work in progress. It's got previous community projects and future ideas.
Contact us at BetaCityYEG@gmail.com as well as 780-232-2175 if you have any questions. Thanks!
