Almost 400 people, most ready to collaborate, have joined our group in the DC/MD/VA metro region. 400 reasons why it’s time for all of us to get together to network, chat and discuss the reason why most joined the group, to establish collaborations, share and to learn something. Time to move some of those great ideas from concept to reality. But, how can we begin? What are the first steps?

Many of us need a combination of some of the topics above to bring an idea, product, service or small business to market. Based on the economy, limited resources and other criteria, more than ever, we can’t accomplish certain tasks alone.
Time to change gears and mix it up a little and hosts some events to discuss the other sides of this complex equation. But first, we started out with a couple of technology meetups to help members identify and explore potential opportunities leveraging the latest tools for web and mobile development, we will continue to do this. Websites are an essential component for entrepreneurs, small businesses and others to get the message out about who they are and their innovative products and services. Now apps have become the next emerging marketing, branding and loyalty powerhouse, not to mention a great way for services to support consumers to stay in touch and do things anywhere and everywhere. Social media has rocketed to the top, allowing individuals, start-ups, large and small businesses stay connected with their existing customers and extend to other demographics, acquiring even larger market-share. What’s next? It’s important to understand these concepts and learn to leverage some or all of them to create and maintain successful, sustainable businesses.
Almost 400 resources are potentially available to each member to help reach their business goals. Whether we achieve some of our goals by establishing teams of two, small groups or as a consolidated community, any combination of these scenarios can apply to each members unique needs and interests.
Let’s just get together and chat about the group and make suggestions on what you would like to see from us. Let’s network and discover how we can help each other achieve our business objectives, and yes, dreams.
Just Dev It will be more than just your normal meetup group, it will be a community that supports co-creation of great products and services. We are here to share our knowledge, skills and experience to assist each other on personal and business ideas/projects including for possible rewards and recognition.
We should get together and have our first shindig to talk about our initiatives, aspirations and expectations. We need to begin hashing out plans on how to build the community. We need to start outlining subjects and content of future meetups. Technology needs to be identified to support documenting and distributing these shimdigs and normal meetup conferences. A time schedule also needs to be established for periodic meetups, breakout groups, workshops, and other types of sessions.
We’re building a great online resource to begin and continue the conversation. A dedicated Just Dev It app will soon follow.
