EXTENDED HIKE: Forrestal & Portuguese Bend Trails (costumes optional)

A HALLOWEEN DAY HIKE!

For those that are dying (get it?) to break out their Halloween costumes...why not join us on this grueling (ghouling) hike, IN COSTUME if you like! Keep in mind, this hike will be challenging enough without costumes, so it will be best to wear something that will not make you too hot or be cumbersome during the hike. Pictures WILL be taken. You've been warned! >;-)~

This hike will range between 7 to 9 miles. Expected cumulative gains will easily exceed 2100+ feet.

Meet up time is 7:15am. Since the trails are exposed, we will need to start promptly to avoid the heat: either as soon as everyone who has RSVP'd is present or NLT 7:30am ~ whichever is sooner.

I will have maps to hand out at the beginning of the hike and can e-mail a copy to whoever is interested.

Expected hiking time, with a couple of stops for picture taking, snacks & water breaks is anywhere between 3.0 to 3.5 hours, depending on the group.

Please bring water (chilled or with ice) for drinking, hat and sun glasses for sun protection, hiking poles for the many uphills and downhill sections and snacks for yourself or to share among the group.

P.S. - You do not have to wear a costume if you are not inclined to do so. The ocean views on this hike are simply BOO-tiful!
