2016 Kickoff: Hermosa Pier to El Porto and back

We'll be walking 6.5 miles along the Strand in Hermosa and Manhattan. The path is mostly flat and there are beautiful views of the bay and some gorgeous houses and gardens along the route.

We will stop at the midway point of the hike (3.25 miles) for a coffee/ breakfast break at the Surf Food Stand in El Porto. This is a cute little food stand where the tables are right on the sand and there is usually soft (recorded/not live) flamenco music playing. We'll enjoy a respite of an hour or so before returning back to Hermosa along the same route. See photos below for the Surf Stand Menu.

Comfortable tennis shoes are fine for this walk. Bring a hat/sun protection. There are public bathrooms and a few drinking fountains along the route. Parking is available at the Municipal Parking Structure just north of the pier plaza; entrance is at 13th Street and Hermosa Avenue. 24 hour parking available (meters which accept coins or cards), cost is $1.25 per hour. Hermosa Parking Enforcement is very strict - make sure your tires are inside (not touching) the markings delineating the parking space and that you have adequate money in the meter (I would suggest 5 hours).
