PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION

This presentation’s objective is to show entrepreneurs how businesses and organizations can benefit from having strong policies and procedures. I will start by defining the words “policy,” “procedure,” and “rule.” I will offer a rationale, from a business and organizational perspective, as to why policies and procedures are important. I will also offer attendees some general instructions on how best to develop and implement policies and procedures. I will also emphasize that robust policies and procedures can help businesses save time and money.

Michael currently works as an operations manager at Vancouver Community College. He also currently teaches a Business Strategy course at SFU. Michael has worked as a policy consultant at the Office of the Chief Judge of the BC Provincial Court. He has also worked as a policy writer for Scotiabank. He has taught courses in project management and human resources management at Ashton College. Michael is active in the community and currently serves on the boards of the Alliance Française de Vancouver and Tomoe Arts. He holds MBA and MA degrees from SFU. He graduated with a BA (Honours) from UBC.
