In our thirst to make sense of ever growing mountains of data, we have arrived in the age of 'Big Data' and one of the key players in this realm is Hadoop.

Hadoop although in the strict sense applies to a particular set of software that help do massively parallel data processing, over time it has evolved to include a whole ecosystem of related tools that help not only do the processing, but also help gather data, orchestrate workflows, publish results etc.

This talk aims to be a be primarily a broad introduction to the Hadoop Ecosystem and then we will delve into the details, at a limited depth, on how Mapreduce 1 (MRv1), the first iteration of Hadoop, and it's associated pieces work.

The aim is to get through the inital barrier to entry and help set you on your journey of exploration through the magical world of Hadoop.
