You've gotta thank Jeff - he's the one that took them. I just reposted his link. BTW - Jeff lives in BC and was inspired by the race, so went out and bought himself a mountain bike. He and his wife will be out riding the trails, so if you run into them, you can thank them in person.

Is any of the course on paved road? Just curious as I was looking at the map and it kinda looks like it.

    November 17, 2012

    • Steve R.

The singletrack part of the course ends at Great Ridge Parkway and you ride through the neighborhood on pavement to the start/finish line and pit area on the BC Commons. The distance is probably about a half mile. You get back on the singletrack near the Commons.

  • David H.

1 more for 100! Who's going to do it?

    November 16, 2012

  • Steve R.

It's the call for volunteers for 6BC!!! We need people for the following:

    - 2 more marshals for the 6BC course. Entry is free for teams who are willing to marshal or for individual racers who bring along someone to marshal. Khelly has signed on for one position.

    - 2-3 People to clean up the course after the race.

    - 2-3 People to help with registration from 7:30-9:00.

    - Timing help through the race.

For the Kid's Race we need people for the following:

    - 1 or 2 people to go out at 2:30 and make sure the single track is properly configured for the kid's race. - 4 Course marshals

    - Sweeper to be sure we don't leave a kid in the woods!

Please post up here to let me know you're in. Or send me an email: [masked].

Thanks for your help and consideration.

    Steve

      November 15, 2012

Please take a few minutes to fill out the following Google Form with your name and race class so we can pre-populate the timing system database.

    Here's the form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEVkT19EaEZyZllhSE1vcV9uUmY5Z0E6MA#gid=0

When you're done with the form, please print out and fill in the waiver form: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zMDDBn9wtR68jD_8TjvPwMFzqTPqQQIrEtcihS75NxM/edit

how far is it from the parking area to the start/finish line?

    November 14, 2012

    • Matt

1700 Briar Chapel Pkwy Chapel Hill, NC 27516 should get you close enough.

      November 14, 2012

    • Matt J.

provided you arrive early enough, you will be able to drive your car up to the pit area and unload, then go park.

      November 15, 2012

  • Robert M.

Can I still pre-register, is there a link to register?

    November 13, 2012

    • Steve R.

Hit the RSVP button toward the top right hand corner of this page.

      November 13, 2012

  • Steve R.

I've uploaded a map for 6BC to give people a chance to preview the course. Please note, there is not yet a connector to the trail from the BC Commons (the pit area and start/finish line). The best place to start is from the trail head on Great Ridge Parkway. The connector will be near the house a few hundred yards down the trail. Here's the link: http://files.meetup.com/1437441/2012%206BC%20map.pdf

Please note, there will be no race parking along the course or any other part of the developed area in Briar Chapel. Participants, spectators, etc. should park in the designated area on the other side of Briar Chapel Parkway. Participants are welcome to unload their cars in the pit area, but need to move their cars prior to the race.

Anyone leaving from the downtown Raleigh area willing to help out with a ride? I haven registered yet--no debit/credit card--but am trying to keep abreast o the number of slots open and if it looks like there's goin to be a few on race day, I'd love to race. I'm willing to help with gas and buy some beers/burritos for the ride.

How far is parking from the pit area? I have some "stuff" that I'd prefer to keep locked in my truck until / if it's needed (tools, etc.) but if it's a long haul from the pits back to the truck, I might want to alter my plans.

    November 8, 2012

Sorry for the late notice, but I will be leading a pre-ride of the 6BC course at 1:00PM on Saturday, November 3. We will meet at the Clubhouse parking lot. This will be a easy, no-drop ride to introduce and familiarize everyone with the Briar Chapel trails. We will preview the pit area, parking area, start, new trail section, the works! There are some tricks to riding BC and we'll work on riding the ideal lines as we proceed around the course.
