This site is for people who enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking and other outdoor activities (skiing, kayaking, climbing, whitewater rafting, etc) with other people who enjoy the outdoors. Many of the events will be local hikes that will allow people new to the area and those who have lived her a short or long time to get together in the great outdoors and enjoy nature and new friendships. We are fortunate to live in an area that is comprised of The Upstate, Western North Carolina and The Northeast Georgia area. See you on the trail.

Trailhead: take parkway and turn right on forest service road 816 toward Black Balsam and Sam Knob park in the parking lot by the bathrooms.
This is a truly superb figure-eight hike through a high-elevation heath bald, Norther hardwood forests, and various stages of a spruce/fir forest. Read more
